Vijay Diwas....A decade...

A decade has passed by.. yes a decade ago when I and my other fellow mates were having a ball after our final exams ( 12th standard) , ecstatic with our results and quite busy discussing our future course of action... exactly at the same time some of our valiant countrymen were busy settling the score and defending our de facto border in order to decide the future of our nation and secure our today......
We celebrate 26th of July as Kargil Vijay Diwas.. I wonder if many of us know this or remember it. I came across few debates on national news channels and few articles in leading national daily... most of the debates were highly politicised, blame games were on, NDA folks think UPA ministers did not visit Kargil on its 10th anniversary coz victory was accomplish during
NDA regime.. UPA too had a valid point, NDA never commemorate 1965/71 war and its heros, so why should they be munificent.. quite a rational point :) ..... btw all these folks were taking interviews from their cozy drawing rooms....

I came across few articles which has brought to notice the plight of family memeber of some of these war heroes who are still awating the compensation, due to some legal matters, another article talks about the archaic artillery still being used.. no one discusses on how do we make ourselves better outfitted and don't have to lose 527 ( that was the official number, 527
casualities & 1363 wounded) brave fellow countrymen.

I pay my homage to those brave hearted soldiers and respect to their families.... I am reminded of few line from a very famous partiotic song....

"jab desh mein thi diwali vo khel rahe the holi jab ham baithe the gharon mein vo jhel rahe the goli the dhanya javaan vo aapane thi dhanya vo unaki javaani "
hope nda/upa's become more considerate towards families of war heros and solve the real problems of militia ....

Singning off for now....
